Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that star attacker Alexis Sanchez is as good as former Liverpool hero Luis Suarez.
The Chilean had a scintillating first campaign in English football last term after a summer move from Barcelona – which ironically was facilitated by the Catalan giants signing Suarez from Liverpool.
Ahead of Monday night’s clash between the Gunners and the Uruguayan’s former team, the French boss has claimed that Sanchez is just as good as the man that replaced him at Camp Nou.
“Sanchez and Suarez are at the same level,” The Mirror quote Wenger as saying.
“Suarez is a central striker and Sanchez is more a wide player who likes to go up and down and is involved in dribbling, but they have similarities.
“Sanchez has that desire to go forward and provoke, he is a guy who provokes chaos in the defences because he has a go at them. He does not go across, he goes straight. His desire to go forward, to provoke opponents, to run at people, creates danger.
“And he plays to win in every single game. I have had players like that before, players who want to win so much, but he has the style as well.
“What Sanchez has is that, in the first two yards, he is lightning quick. He has that explosive attitude linked with his spirit and that makes him even more spectacular.”
Sanchez has not had a full pre-season with the Emirates Stadium outfit due to participating in the Copa America over the summer.
However, the former Udinese star started the clash against Crystal Palace last weekend and decided the game in the away side’s favour.
Sanchez will hope to play a considerable role in Arsenal’s potential win over Liverpool this Monday night and increase his match fitness further.
