As the Red Devils edge closer to securing Amorim from Sporting Lisbon, the management transition has given Van Nistelrooy a temporary role in steering the squad. The Portuguese manager is set to assume responsibilities following the November international break, providing Van Nistelrooy an interim opportunity over the next three games.

Although Amorim is expected to fly down with his preferred set of backroom staff, Van Nistelrooy has spoken of his commitment to supporting the club through the transitional phase and expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with the incoming manager in some capacity beyond the interim period.
"I'm very motivated to stay here and help the club forward, that's my absolute goal," he told reporters.
"I came as an assistant to help the club forward and I am still very motivated to do so in any capacity, as an assistant and now an interim, and after that I go back to my assistant contract that I have here for this season and next. I can speak about my side of the story and when a new manager is signing and conversations take place we have to see how things develop.”
