Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is ready to take a gamble in the summer transfer market, but only for the right player, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.
The Gunners have only made one major signing so far this summer, with Petr Cech arriving from Chelsea in a £11million deal.
And it looks like it won’t be enough after a rather disappointing start to the season, in which Wenger’s men lost West Ham United 2-0 at the Emirates in the opening fixture before scraping a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in their second game.

Arsenal will host Liverpool in their third clash on Monday and will hope to gain their first points at home, and the Frenchman has admitted that he could still make a gamble on a marquee signing if the right player becomes available.
“There is always time to take a gamble and we are not against taking a gamble,” he said. “But what you want is to take a gamble in a market where the opportunity is there.
“I believe this squad is ready to fight for the title and has a chance to do it given that we are continuing to develop as a team.
“That is the first thing. Internally we have the resources to do that and it is also important that we don’t have too many major injuries like last year.
“I said before that I don’t know how good the other teams will be. Man City started especially in an impressive way but the season is long.”
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for Real Madrid star Karim Benzema and Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani, and could make an official bid before the end of the transfer window on September 2nd.
