According to reports in The Telegraph, Chelsea have opened talks with West Ham United about signing striker Andy Carroll, who could be sold for £20m this month according to Sky Sports, on a permanent deal, and Liverpool fans have been quick to mock the Premier League holders over the move for their former flop.
Initial reports suggested that the Blues wanted to bring the 29-year-old to Stamford Bridge on loan until the end of the season to provide cover for Alvaro Morata, but now The Telegraph says they have held discussions to take the centre-forward on a permanent basis.
Carroll’s spell with West Ham has been overshadowed by injury issues, and he certainly isn’t thought of fondly by Liverpool either having scored 11 goals in 58 appearances in all competitions following a £35m move from Newcastle United.
Supporters of the Merseyside outfit took to social media to give their thoughts on Chelsea targeting Carroll, and while one said “they really have lost the plot in the transfer market”, another said “Andy Carroll to Chelsea is hilarious”.
