According to Sky Sports, West Brom have agreed a £3m deal with Brentford to bring midfielder Romaine Sawyers back to the club, which has left many fans at the Hawthorns absolutely delighted.
The news has since been confirmed by Matt Wilson of the Express & Star, the regular ‘go-to’ for all things related to the club.
Sawyers was formerly a product of West Brom’s youth academy but after never featuring for the senior side, he departed for Walsall in 2013. He has since gone on to play for Championship rivals Brentford, where he has become an influential member of their midfield.
Last season the 27-year-old featured in 46 games in all competitions for the Bees, laying on seven assists as well as quickly becoming their regular choice of captain. His performances at Griffin Park has attracted interest from both Scottish champions Celtic as well as fellow Championship outfit Leeds United.
Though it appears to be West Brom who have won his signature this summer which has caused excitement amongst many of the Baggies’ fanbase. One supporter labelled him their future captain whilst others used the words ‘bargain’ and ‘steal’ to describe the potential £3m transfer.
The idea of Sawyers joining for some is too much to handle after one fan said watching their midfield this season will be a real treat, referencing the fact he’s had to witness Jake Livermore, Chris Brunt and Darren Fletcher.
